Prohibited Items

Because a real person carries your parcel, some items can never be sent through CarryParcel — for their safety and yours.

Privacy Policy Terms & Conditions Prohibited Items Community Guidelines

1. Why this list exists

Every parcel on CarryParcel is carried by a verified member of our community, not a commercial freight service. Senders must accurately describe their parcel's contents when posting a request, and travelers are entitled to inspect a parcel before accepting it. Attempting to send a prohibited item, or misrepresenting a parcel's contents, may result in account suspension.

2. Never allowed, under any circumstances

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, or fireworks of any kind.
  • Illegal drugs or controlled substances without valid, verifiable prescription documentation.
  • Live animals or animal remains.
  • Human remains or hazardous biological material.
  • Counterfeit goods or items that infringe on someone else's intellectual property.
  • Stolen goods or items obtained illegally.
  • Cash, bearer bonds, or other negotiable instruments.
  • Items that are illegal to possess, sell, or transport under applicable law at either the pickup or destination location.

3. Restricted — require disclosure and traveler consent

These items are not automatically blocked, but must be clearly disclosed when posting a parcel, and the accepting traveler must explicitly agree to carry them:

  • Flammable liquids, aerosols, or compressed gas canisters.
  • Lithium batteries not installed in a device (spare power banks, loose cells).
  • Sharp objects such as knives, blades, or tools, which must be safely packaged.
  • Perishable food items that require refrigeration or have a short shelf life.
  • Fragile or high-value items such as electronics, jewelry, or glassware — travelers may decline these or request additional care instructions.
  • Medication, which must include original packaging and, where applicable, a prescription.

When in doubt, disclose it. Under-describing a parcel to get it accepted faster is a violation of our Terms & Conditions and puts the traveler carrying it at risk.

4. High-value parcels

For items above a certain declared value, we recommend using our optional parcel insurance add-on at checkout and packaging the item securely. CarryParcel's standard delivery protection does not cover items that were inaccurately declared.

5. Reporting a suspicious parcel

If you're a traveler and suspect a parcel request misrepresents its contents, decline the request and report it from the parcel details screen. If you've already accepted a parcel and have concerns after inspecting it, contact Support before proceeding with the delivery.

6. What happens if this policy is violated

  • The parcel request will be cancelled and any held payment refunded to the sender where appropriate.
  • Repeated or serious violations may lead to temporary suspension or permanent removal from CarryParcel.
  • Where required, CarryParcel may report illegal items to the relevant authorities.

7. Still not sure?

Ask before you post.

If you're unsure whether an item is allowed, check with our Support Center before creating a parcel request.
